Author and photographer of 10 books, Obie Oberholzer is a best-selling, world-renowned and legendary photographer who has travelled the African continent extensively. A former fine arts and photography lecturer, he bought his first camera, a Hasselblad, while a student at Stellenbosch University. In 1979 he completed a Masters Diploma at the Bavarian State Institute of Photography. In 1999 he was Associate Professor and Head of Photography Section, School of Fine Art, Rhodes University, Grahamstown. After his retirement from academia in 2002 he moved with his wife Lynn to Nature’s Valley in the Eastern Cape.
