A while ago there lived a crazy sheep farmer called Jan Hugo. Well, the locals from the nearest Karoo town of Loxton said he didn’t have all the bolts in his head. He was more rancher than a sheep farmer. He let his sheep roam over his enormous farm and when he wanted to shear them he herded them with his small plane. One day he visited distant family in The Netherlands. When touring around this little flat country he fell in a love with a Dutch castle. This castle also had a windmill. On his return to the Karoo he built a replica of this castle and the windmill. He returned to this a castle in Holland a couple of times to check on various aspects and proportions of the building. Now this castle and its windmill stands in all its Dutch glory on the wide open plains of the Karoo.
