I was greatly honoured by the visit to my studio in Piazza di Santa Georgio by the world famous British journalist , writer & TV producer, John Simpson. He came around to look at my latest Karoo images. I don’t think that I have ever had anyone that important in our Piazza before, especially not a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) or World Affairs editor of the BBC. He has reported from 120 countries, 32 war zones and has been interviewing world leaders since 1970. He has received an Emmy award for journalism and a number of honorary doctorates. What a fascinating, extraordinary man. He is a personal friend of my photographic hero, Don McCullin, with whom he worked on various assignments during the Vietnam War.
