Piazza di Santa Georgio

Marianne Fassler has a house down the road from me in St. Georges Avenue in Natures Valley. She’s the queen of techniColour and as some oke from the Mail & Guardian said; “There is fashion and then there’s Fassler” She didn’t want me but a Lynn’s Cappuccino. Before she arrived I quickly switched my house’s name sign from ‘Fokkolfontein Productions’ to ‘Piazza di Santa Georgio’. That didn’t really help. Neither did my exclusive white T-shirt where the small logo read ‘Leopard Rock’. (Her business in Saxonwold is called ‘Leopard Frock’) After her special Cappuccino she looked me up and down as if I was just a travelling hillbilly and the world’s worst fashion photographer. My wife agreed and added that I was also the worst wildlife photographer. Then she walked around the fountain in the centre of the Piazza. On the Piazza a flock Speckled Pigeons ‘koe-koerred’ her elegance. I ventured behind her with my Canon, paparazzi style. She had on this dazzling luminous lime-green outfit with matching ‘plakkies’. With a grunt she informed me that they were sandals not ‘plakkies’. Plakkies are cheap plastic things that people wore in Brakpan and Yserfontein and that the colour of her outfit was called ‘ Vert de chaux lumineux’.
